7TH NGB-ITFPHILIPPINES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS UPDATE AND WINNERS (2011)
June 4 and 5 2011:
Our 7th National Championships was held at the Quezon City Circle Volleyball Covered Court (Thanks to Sir Tadeo Palma). It was our first two day championships. This was done in response to increasing number of competitors. As mentioned we were transferred to a much suited venue care of Sir Tadeo Palma. He’s the present Administrator of QC Circle and responsible to lots of changes and developments in our beloved QC Circle.Thank you Sir.
A lot of new members competed and what’s more exciting is that many colored belts who were absent from previous competitions joined.Noticeably, a lot of title holders readily accepted challengers. The pattern competition was awesome to see as improvements on the techniques are visible and participants obviously prepared themselves. We can also attribute the improvements in the Patterns from the seminars which we have organized like what we had with Sir Mariusz and to special trainings for instructors in every gyms.
The Sparring bouts were great as our students showed that they are maturing with their Taekwon-Do and are more comfortable with their techniques. This is something that we would like to see with our ITF Practitioners as we all improve and become true martial artists.
We all had our surprise on the first day of the competition as Master Peter Barbour, our ITFPhil. Consultant, graced the tourament all the way from Australia. Master Peter Barbour stayed on and is very pleased with the energy and cooperation of ITF Philippines. He even posed with the students and parents for photos. This moment will never be forgotten in our young participants’ mind and in the records of all parents present. Master Peter’s accomplishments still keeps him as humble as he was when we first met him. A very excellent example of a true Martial Artist. THANK YOU MASTER PETER.
The NGB-ITF PHILIPPINES would like to thank again the students, parents and friends of ITF Phil. for making the 7th National Championships a success and an event to look forward to every year. There are suggestions that the next National Championships be held at Davao City. Let’s all join if ever agreed as we also envisioned our ITF members as well traveled Pinoys in their beloved country through our activities.Taekwon.

SABUM MARIUSZ IN MANILA 2011
The ITF Philippines is very happy to announce that Sabum Mariusz’s visit and seminar last March 26 and 27, 2011 was fruitful. All students who attended experienced another teaching style that they’ve enjoyed.
Pattern techniques were enhanced and a lot of techniques when explained by Sabum Mariusz were seen effective and very clear making them easy to apply and remember.
During the first day Patterns were reviewed and updated and on second day , Sparring techniques and Do lecture were added. Thirty two ITF practitioners attended (though we wish more could’ve attended), eleven of them are black belts. On the second day, grading also was facilitated by Sabum Mariusz Steckeiwicz and the five black belts passed and promoted to the next higher degree.
We now have three new Second Degree namely, Glenee Esquejo, Jerilou Marquez and Louie Arnaiz . Two new Third Degrees namely, Rowell and Lord Michael Danque. Everyone was exhausted, felt some muscle pains but were smiling, sometimes laughing. Truly the seminar conducted by Sabum Mariusz was a happy and very technical one and most of all enjoyable to everyone. We are thankful that ITF Headquarters approved on this seminar and supported ITF Philippines.
Thank you also to ITF Asia for utilizing this system as it will greatly improve ITF Asia. Thanks also to all the parents and guardians for their support to our young members and who accompanied our students for two days.
We greatly appreciate Sabum Mariusz for sharing his time, knowledge and experiences with ITF with us Filipinos. We expect to see him more in the Philippines and we hope for the continuous support of ITF Headquarters and ITF Asia.
All Blackbelts were reminded of the upcoming IIC in Hongkong and were encouraged to attend. ITF Philippines is now more confident in preparing a team for overseas competition and perhaps bid for Asian Championships in the near future.
